Dmitri is a 37-year-old professor who did audiovisual stuff for the university he works at. One day, he found a strange signal coming from one of the machines. After spending a lot of time trying to decode and locate the signal, he received instructions from Sly (the leader of an organization focusing on outer space exploration) to build a machine to fire a beacon of light into specific coordinates. Once the machine was finished, he powered it on and was knocked out by a massive amount of energy. After that, he blacked out for a while and when he came to his body had completely transformed. It was confusing and weird at first but eventually he embraced it and came up with a persona to fit his new form!

Sly values Dmitri's skill and wants him to be his successor... but while Dmitri appreciates the recognition, the thought of it terrifies him and he does everything in his power to put it off.
