Donnie is a cat-like being from another dimension. When Dr. Mayhem activated his machine, a rift opened and allowed him to escape from the other shapeshifters to Dmitri's world, though unfortunately he was nearly killed when he arrived. Dmitri found him and was able to revive him in time, and let Donnie stay with him in exchange for running tests on him and studying his otherworldly anatomy, as Donnie's mere presence proves exactly what he was theorizing about.
